Spring Fever at Motorama

For the third year in a row, Spring Fever: Modified Cars & Culture is going to be an integral part of the annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo.

The 30,000+ square foot ‘show within a show’ takes place March 9, 10 & 11, 2018 in the International Centre’s Hall 4. The venue is located across from Toronto’s Pearson Airport.

Kristine Hill (formerly Danton), who has been the Show Manager of Spring Fever (SF3) since its introduction at the 2016 Motorama show, is returning for a third year. And with just over two months until showtime, Kristine is already reviewing vehicle applications.

“Spring Fever signals the beginning of the Ontario car show season,” said Hill. “The goal is to showcase the ‘best of the best’ that our scene has to offer. We’re also looking to feature as many ‘first time shown’ vehicles as possible. To that end, we have a rigorous screening process that we’re continuing to develop and refine for the 2018 show.

“We’ve already received a lot of incredible applications and I know SF3 is going to be the best yet! Anyone wishing to register their vehicle can go to MotoramaShow.com and click on the ‘Register a Vehicle’ tab to apply online.”

Another hallmark of Spring Fever is the tradition of presenting a unique mini feature, each year, just outside the entrance to Hall 4. In 2016 this space played host to the ‘Best in Show’ winning vehicles from various shows that took place during the previous decade. At last year’s show, modified trucks were in the spotlight.

For 2018, showgoers will be treated to ‘A Taste of Europe,’ a feature honouring show-winning European vehicles. “Each different area of the modified vehicle community has its own unique flare and style,” said Hill. “And we want to draw attention to that.”

The Best in Show winner will be presented with a trophy and a $1,000 cheque during the SF3 awards presentations on Sunday, March 11 on the Spring Fever Stage in Hall 4. The runner-up will receive $500. Other awards include Best Paint and Best Engine Bay.

In addition to vehicle applications being accepted, there is still some exhibitor space available in Spring Fever, for companies looking to connect with the large crowd of passionate auto enthusiasts that will be in attendance throughout the show.
