Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs – Ontario Region [CASC-OR] will return with another strong presence at this year’s Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo presented by eBay Motors, where the grassroots racing organization will fill a large space in the Gulf Race Fuels Racing Zone presented by Stoneridge Specialty Insurance.
After showcasing several vehicles in their booth at last year’s show, CASC-OR will focus on interactive elements for 2025. The club is finalizing details for their featured experience, which will allow showgoers to participate in a racing-related activity, while learning about the many ways to get involved with CASC-OR.
Representatives will promote the entry-level nature of CASC-OR, which organizes ice racing and time attack events, in addition to the traditional multi-class road racing weekends. A prime example is the Miata Canada Cup, which gained quick popularity in its inaugural season; the Mazda Miata spec series offers competitive racing at a price point that’s inexpensive for motorsports.
CASC-OR race director Pat Cyr says that Motorama will provide the club with an opportunity to build their brand recognition, as they share how people can experience the excitement of the sport.
“We are the source for racing in Ontario; starting with grassroots, all the way to the very experienced and bigger teams,” said Cyr. “It’s important to be present at events, to have the discussion, to explain what we are and who we are…some people may think that it’s out of their budget range [to race], but they might be pleasantly surprised that it may not be.”
CASC-OR road racing events include a variety of different series. The Pirelli Super Touring and Grand Touring sprints feature five speed-based classes that boast a wide range of vehicles, from NASCAR-style trucks and cars to Ford Mustangs and Honda Civics. There are also open-wheel, prototype, and VARAC vintage series, along with the Miata Canada Cup.
The 2025 road racing schedule features six events at three tracks, starting with the BEMC Spring Trophy Races on May 10-11, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and concluding in early October.
The ice racing season features events at the Minden Fairgrounds, from January to early March, while Ontario Time Attack uses competitors’ individual timed laps to determine results in a variety of classes, with events held throughout the summer.
CASC-OR officials and scrutineers will be on-hand throughout the weekend at Motorama to answer questions; there will also be drivers spending time in the booth. Anyone interested in getting behind-the-wheel is encouraged to chat with representatives and to attend a race weekend to see what it’s about.
The club will also have an information booth for anyone interested in helping with event operations; volunteers are a huge part of regional events and CASC-OR currently has openings that they’re looking to fill.
Motorama takes place March 7, 8 & 9 at The International Centre, across from Toronto’s Pearson Airport. Cyr is looking forward to interacting with people at the show.
“Being able to have that discussion about who we are and what we do and converting that person from someone who has a slight interest into someone with a bigger interest is always exciting for me,” said Cyr. “Meeting up with the racing family and friends, from different areas; everyone seems to converge there, which is always nice in the pre-season. It’s an exciting time; lots of buzz, lots of activity, lots of energy there.”
