A racing champion is guaranteed to attract attention, no matter what the venue. And having over 125 champions gathered in one location is the reason that the annual Drag Racing and Short Track Night of Champions is such a highly anticipated part of the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo.
Taking place on the Pinty’s Stage, in Hall 2, on the evening of Saturday, March 14, the Night of Champions recognizes Canada’s premiere competitors from both straight line and oval tracks. A staple of the Motorama show since its inception, the Night of Champions will have a new presenting sponsor this year in the form of Fast Eddie Racewear.
Explained Fast Eddie co-founder Jamie Hakonson, “We have been part of this show for over 20 years through its evolution from Performance World, to the Canadian Motorsports Expo, and now it’s bigger and better as Motorama.
“It’s a perfect mix of racers, enthusiasts, track and event operators, all under one roof, which is a great fit for our companies.”
With a decades long history of involvement in the motorsports industry, Fast Eddie Racewear is ideally suited to assume the role of presenting sponsor. Hakonson’s father, Ed, was recently inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame, while Jamie is the E.H.R Team Manager for multi-time NASCAR Pinty’s Series race winner Jason Hathaway.
All three will be in attendance at the 2020 Motorama show, and will be on hand to be recognized for their support of the Fast Eddie Racewear Short Track and Drag Racing Night of Champions.
Doing double duty this year, Fast Eddie Racewear will also be a returning vendor at Motorama, their Hall 2 booth offering for sale a wide array of products for fans and competitors.
“We will have 70 feet of all the cool things we do,” noted Hakonson. “We will have race gear like crew shirts, custom hats and t-shirts for teams and tracks. We’ll also have helmets and firesuits for racers, and an expanded line of our own Fast Eddie brand of Speedwear for the gearhead enthusiast.”
Hakonson added, “Our Fast Eddie Speedwear collection is a big part of our display his year. We have a new collection with a new look and feel and we are proud to be introducing it to the automotive and racing enthusiasts at Motorama.”
The Fast Eddie Drag Racing Night of Champions will once again be co-hosted by drag racing track announcers Bill Richards and Larry Satchell. It kicks off Saturday at 4:15 p.m. on the Pinty’s Stage.
And at 6:00 p.m., the Fast Eddie Short Track Night of Champions take to the stage and will be hosted by Gary Colling and Steve Petty. Celebrity guests will assist with the presentations. All registered champions – who won an oval or straight-line track or series season-long championship in 2019 are eligible to be honoured.
