FEATURED CLUB: CORVETTES OF DURHAM

Each year at Motorama, almost two dozen car clubs are represented throughout the over 300,000 square feet of floorspace at Toronto’s International Centre. And each year, one of those clubs has the honour of serving as the Featured Club at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo Presented by eBay Motors.

And for 2023, that designation goes to the Corvettes of Durham. The club has been part of Motorama on many previous occasions, but this is their first time being the Featured Club. Motorama takes place March 10, 11 & 12 at Toronto’s International Centre.

It’s a recognition that the club is well-organized and that its members have many quality vehicles and are able to present a larger display at the show. The Corvettes of Durham was established in 2000 by a dedicated group of 11 Corvette enthusiasts. Three of those founding members are still with the club.

The group is based in Durham Region and holds general meetings each month, at different locations. When there is no snow on the ground, the Corvettes of Durham organizes cruises to various locations and also attend car shows and events in and around Southern Ontario.

As a contributing member of the community, the club primarily focuses its support on two main charities. They are the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Region Cancer Centre (Lakeridge Health Foundation), and their newest charity, the Humane Society of Durham Region. To date, the Corvettes of Durham have donated more than $48,000 to charities.

The club currently has 30 members, with vehicles ranging from the C3 through the C8 generations of cars. The theme of their display at the show will be “Corvette Generations from C1 to C8.”

Discussing the club’s excitement at being selected as this year’s Featured Club at Motorama, the Corvettes of Durham offered the following quote, “We are proud and honoured to have been chosen as the ‘Featured Car Club’ for the 8th Annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo presented by EBay Motors Canada. Our members are looking forward to returning to the traditional mid-March date at The International Centre and being a part of this stellar event.”

Speaking on behalf of Motorama, Car Show Coordinator Gary Challice said, “The Corvettes of Durham have been great supporters of Motorama and car shows over the years. They have some outstanding vehicles and great members and we’re looking forward to see an amazing variety of Corvettes in their display.”

For anyone interested in the Corvettes of Durham Car Club, they are members of the Canadian Council of Corvette Clubs (Quad C), the National Corvette Museum, and they have a Facebook page (Corvettes of Durham). They’re also on the web at CorvettesOfDurham.ca
