Five fun bands set to rock Motorama!

One of the most popular new features at last year’s Motorama show was the addition of live music. In light of that success, a total of five fun bands will be on the schedule at this year’s Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports ExpoMotorama takes place March 13, 14 & 15 at The International Centre, across from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

On Friday night (March 13) at approximately 7:00 p.m., Mark Malibu and The Wasagas will take to the Pinty’s Stage in Hall 2 as part of the Motorama Kick-Off Party for car owners, show sponsors and Motorama’s celebrity guests. The general public is welcome to enjoy the festivities, as well. This year marks the first time this party has taken place on the show floor, instead of in a private setting.

Mark Malibu and The Wasagas are more fun than a barrel of monkeys. To prove it, this ‘surf punk’ band actually has a monkey as part of their outrageous performance art act!

Prior to the Kick-Off Party, DJ Swankenstein (right) will be on the stage, spinning records and getting everyone in the mood, starting at around 4:45 p.m. And when he’s not at this party, he’ll be playing tunes, all weekend, on the Zehr Insurance Brokers Stage, in the Mayhem ‘rockabilly’ room (Hall 4).

DJ Swankenstein promises a three-day soundtrack inspired by the smell of jalopy exhaust, axle grease, tire rubber, tattoo ink, pomade and pinup girl hairspray.

On Saturday (March 14), the Zehr Stage comes to life with three amazing bands, Mag & the Neat-O’s, the Hell Bent Rockers and the headline band, The Dreamboats.

Mag & the Neat-O’s take to the stage at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. This recently-formed ‘rhythm & blues’ / rockabilly group hails from Buffalo, NY and is comprised of members of Buffalo’s Blue Ribbon Bastards and the legendary band The Quakes.

Next up, at 5:30 p.m., the Hell Bent Rockers will shake the Mayhem room with high-energy rockabilly music. This quartet has been rockin’ the Southern Ontario music scene for almost a decade with a mix of classic ‘rock & roll’ and authentic ‘50s rockabilly.

And at 7:00 p.m., be sure you’re front and centre when The Dreamboats hit the stage with a sound reminiscent of Chuck Berry, The Beatles and The Wonders, from the Tom Hanks movie That Thing You Do. Bringing back ‘good ‘ol rock and roll,’ you won’t be able to stand still when this internationally celebrated, Mississauga-based band gets going with ‘50s and ‘60s music and their entertaining on-stage antics.

And on Sunday (March 15) at 12:30 p.m., the Zehr Stage will once again fill the Mayhem room with sound when The Green Reflectors begin their set. Comprised of brothers Kyle and Aaron, this Bridgewater, Nova Scotia-based duo are popular in Atlantic Canada, as well as Quebec and Ontario.

Their loud, ‘in your face’ riff rock sound is the heart of their extremely physical shows. It’s a natural having them at a hot rod car show given that they recently appeared on an episode of the custom car show, Bad Chad, on Discovery Channel.
