Visitors to the 2023 eBay Motors Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo will notice that long-time show partner Lincoln Electric has a high-profile at this year’s show.
The company is returning as the presenting sponsor of the Lincoln Electric Canadian 10 Awards. This program recognizes the top ten finalist vehicles that are in the running for the Motorama Grand Champion Award.
Lincoln Electric will also be the presenting sponsor of the Roof Chop, featuring Canadian car builder ‘Bad’ Chad Hiltz. Located on the north wall, in Hall 2, Hiltz and a team of custom car enthusiasts will ‘chop’ a 1933 Plymouth. During the three days of the show, the team will cut the roof off the car, remove segments of the pillars, and weld the ‘chopped’ roof back onto the car with Lincoln Electric’s products. The final step will be to install a windshield so the car’s owner can drive it home.
Additionally, Lincoln Electric will have a large exhibitor presence at Motorama, featuring the company’s extensive line of commercial welders and related products. The Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo Presented by eBay Motors takes place March 10, 11 & 12, 2023 at The International Centre, across from Toronto’s Pearson Airport.
For the second year in a row, the Lincoln Electric Canadian 10 will see the Motorama judging team identify the top ten cars in competition by placing large teardrop banners beside the vehicles, in the early hours of Saturday, March 11.
These banners will offer showgoers an opportunity to review the contending vehicles and form their own opinions as to which one will be selected as the Motorama Grand Champion Award winner. The Special Awards presentations start at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, just prior to Motorama’s conclusion.
The Lincoln Electric Canadian 10 will be selected from more than 350 vehicles entered in competition at Motorama. All ten will receive a prize pack that includes a custom-designed varsity-style Lincoln Electric jacket. As well, all will leave the show with their Canadian 10 banners, so they can be displayed in their garages or at other car shows, identifying them as a top contender at Canada’s biggest indoor auto enthusiast and motorsports show.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this iconic Canadian motorsports event once again. Sponsoring the Canadian 10 consecutively is an honour. We could not resist sponsoring Bad Chad Hiltz’s Roof Chop – which will be a showstopper! We look forward to connecting with all the car enthusiasts and our Weld Red Nation in person once again.,” said Caroline Araujo, Lincoln Electric Company of Canada’s National Marketing Manager.
Adding to the excitement of Sunday’s Grand Champion reveal, Lincoln Electric will present a POWER MIG® 140 MP® Multi-Process Welder to a lucky recipient whose name is drawn, at random, from all the car owners with vehicles in competition at Motorama. The POWER MIG 140 MP welder is designed for home projects and repair, sheet metal autobody work, as well as farm and small shop welding.
Participating in the draw for the Lincoln Electric welder will be Bad Chad Hiltz, star of the TV show Bad Chad Customs. Bad Chad uses Lincoln Electric welding and cutting equipment in the course of building his world-famous vehicles at his shop in Nova Scotia. The draw for the Lincoln Electric Power MIG 140 MP welder will take place just prior to the Grand Champion announcement. The winner must be present to accept his or her prize.
“We’re excited and grateful to have our long-time partners at Lincoln Electric taking such a prominent role in several areas of the show,” said Motorama co-promoter David Weber. “The Canadian 10 is a fantastic program that celebrates the top ten eligible vehicles and their owners, in a way that gets showgoers engaged and speculating about which car will be the Motorama Grand Champion. And to have Lincoln Electric present the Roof Chop – featuring Bad Chad – along with a large display of their welders and products, is a great way for them to connect with the car owners and show attendees, the majority of whom are hands-on when it comes to their vehicles.”
