The car club scene continues to play a key role at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo presented by eBay Motors, where groups will once again showcase a stout lineup of vehicles.
This year’s Featured Club, the Road Reapers, will have 12 cars on display; the Toronto-based group features hot rods, classics and custom cars from pre-1960s. They’ll be joined by a dozen other clubs, with Aftermath CC, Ageless CC, Brampton Street Rods, Corvettes of Durham, East London Timing Association, Eliminators, Golden Horseshoe Mustang Association, Mississauga Classic CC, Odd Wheels CC, Retro Car Events, Wasaga Beach Cruisers and West End F-Body’s bringing their beloved rides to the show.
This diverse range of clubs includes both long-time show supporters and groups making their Motorama debut.
“Car clubs have been the heartbeat of automotive culture from the beginning, hosting cruise nights, car shows and so much more, keeping our passion alive as the caretakers of these wonderful pieces of rolling history,” said Motorama Show Car Manager Keith Kortun. “This year’s car clubs offer an array of passion for classics, modifieds, race vehicles and traditional values, welcoming members and offering enthusiasts the ability to enjoy everything our automotive scene has to offer.”
There will be approximately 400 vehicles on display throughout the International Centre, including a selection of Canadian-built vehicles in Hall 1, where top builders, shops and collections from across the country will welcome showgoers just inside the main entrance. These featured vehicles include a blown Dodge Charger, highly-modified muscle cars, a laid-out supercharged VW Beetle and an incredible cab-over-ramp truck.
“This year’s registrations were overflowing,” said Kortun. “We wish we could have space for everyone. The quality of builds in Canada continues to blow minds, with the eye for details and drive to compete for the Valvoline Canadian 10, hoping to win the Challice Cup. We are very happy to have our American friends bringing their incredible rides north of the border to compete for top prizes as well.”
The Valvoline Canadian 10 finalists are revealed on the Saturday morning, when large teardrop banners are placed beside the vehicles. One of the finalists will win the Motorama Grand Champion Award, known as the Challice Cup, which will be announced during the Hagerty Special Awards on Sunday, March 15 on the Hagerty Stage, in Hall 2.
A long-time car guy, Kortun holds the Show Car Manager role for the first time this year. He looks forward to catching up with friends and hearing people’s stories.
“Motorama is about the people as much as it is about the show vehicles,” said Kortun. “Within this year’s show, there is a heartbreaking story about a recent garage fire, a restoration of a classic after a life partner passed away, cancer survivors that cruise for a cure, and one that leads a car club. There are many stories and memories that we share, bonding us together as family.”
