MOTORAMA GRAND CHAMPION AWARD
1968 MERCURY COUGAR FASTBACK – KEVIN MINDEL

The green 1968 Mercury Cougar Fastback, known as ‘Predator.’

The car is owned by Kevin Mindel of Chilliwack, BC and was built by JF Launier and the team at JF Kustoms in Osoyoos, BC.

It’s a hand-built chassis featuring a centre spine, Curtis Speed wheels, a Tremek TKX 5-speed transmission and a Kaase 539 cubic inch Boss Engine.

It’s a car built to be driven, as evidenced by the way it came into the building on Thursday, with JF doing a few donuts in the parking lot before they detailed the car and placed in Hall 1.

Just as the ’32 Ford is a timeless favourite, the ’68 Cougar is the essence of contemporary vehicles in today’s hot rod world.

From inspiration and a concept… to planning… and then execution and fabrication… the talent, tools and equipment were up to the task of bringing a great idea to fruition. The result is modern, yet classic, hot rod.

Congratulations to Kevin Mindel, JF Launier and JF Kustoms on winning this year’s Motorama Grand Champion Award. Please come to the stage to be recognized.

THANK YOU!

On behalf of everyone at Motorama, congratulations to all of the winners and thank you to everyone who brought their beautiful vehicles to the show this year. Thanks to our sponsors, exhibitors, attendees, volunteers and everyone who made the show a great event again this year.

We’re already looking forward to next year when we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Motorama and pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of Dizzy Dean Murray’s Motion show, that started it all back in 1975.

Again… thank you, have a great summer, and we look forward to welcoming you back again next March.
