Car shows are in our blood. It’s what we do – what we live for. But every now and then, the road calls us a little farther than usual, pulling us beyond our regular circuits to support something bigger than just another weekend event. This time, that road led us east – to Moncton, New Brunswick.
The journey itself was part of the story. Long stretches of highway, roadside stops, and conversations that bounced between builds, memories, and the anticipation of what awaited us. Radical Speed Sport, now in its 52nd year, hosted by our friend Joe Savoie and his dedicated team.
Walking into the venue, you could feel the energy – the pride and the unmistakable buzz of one of the biggest indoor car shows in the East.
What stood out most wasn’t just the cars – it was the people. Familiar faces from back home at Motorama, proudly displaying their awards and Valvoline Canadian 10 flags. Builders, competitors, and enthusiasts reconnecting as if no time had passed at all. That’s the thing about this community – it doesn’t matter where you are, you’re never far from someone who shares the same fire.
There was entertainment, too – larger-than-life personalities like “Wild Man” Avery Shoaf, along with the East Bound and Down crew bringing Smokey and the Bandit to life for the crowd. It added a layer of fun that kept the show buzzing all weekend long.
And then there were the builders – the heart of it all. Conversations with creators like Wayne of Wayne’s Hot Rods, who built the stunning blue ’49 Chevy truck that had turned heads back in Toronto, reminded us why we make these trips. These aren’t just cars – they’re stories, craftsmanship, and years of dedication on display.
By the time the weekend wrapped up, one thing was clear: the miles were worth it. Every single one. Because no matter how far you go, the car community is always there – ready to welcome you, share a story, and remind you why you started in the first place.
