And what happens when Vintage Auto Insurance joins forces with the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo Presented by Mothers? On the business side, you get the ideal venue to reach your target demographic, the classic car collector, and for visitors to the Motorama show, the chance to witness the crowning of the 2015 Vintage Auto Champion Series Grand Champion.
“The Motorama show is a great way for us to combine business with pleasure,” explained Wilson. “We will be able to raise the profile of the company and discuss insurance needs with potential customers, and then we can take a break and talk all manner of cars and hot rods with fellow enthusiasts.”
For the Vintage Auto Insurance staff, the Sweet 16 tournament is the culmination of a year-long search to find the most creative, eye-catching and technically impressive collector automobile in Southern Ontario.
From May to September, Wilson and a host of plain clothed judges travelled throughout the province and eventually narrowed the choices to a short list of 14 finalists in the Antique, Classic, Custom and Hot Rod categories. For car owners unable to attend a ‘Qualifier Show,’ Vintage Auto Insurance instituted a ‘Wild Card’ competition, with on-line voting on the VAI website that was open until the end of November, to fill the two final spots.
Once the 16 finalists were determined, elimination-style voting began on-line (on January 6) with the top two vote getters set to appear at the Motorama show. On the Sunday afternoon of Motorama, the Grand Champion will receive his reward, part of which includes a $5,000 top prize.
“When we created the Vintage Auto Championship Series tournament, it was our way of giving back to the hobby,” explained Wilson. “Initially, we weren’t sure what kind of response we’d have to the on-line voting, but it appears that we’re in line to get over a million hits on our website. The votes are coming in from all over the world, from Japan to Brazil to Europe and the States, 26 countries in all. The interest has been overwhelming.”
As demonstrated by the efforts of Vintage Auto Insurance, business and pleasure do work in perfect harmony at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo. The show runs March 11, 12 & 13, 2016 at The International Centre, located adjacent to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
“For Vintage Auto Insurance, the Motorama show is where one season ends and another begins,” concluded Wilson. “Crowning the Grand Champion will conclude the 2015 competition, while, at the same time, the show will get people thinking about the upcoming year. Either way, it’s going to be an exciting weekend for Vintage Auto Insurance.”
