WD-40 returns as presenting sponsor of WD-40 Students’ Day for the second straight year at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo presented by eBay Motors. Motorama will welcome dozens of schools and thousands of students on Friday, March 13 for an educational and entertaining experience of all things automotive.
Azadbir Rai, Brand & Digital Marketing Manager at WD-40 Company (Canada) Ltd., says that it was an amazing experience leading WD-40 Students’ Day for the first time last year and seeing the excitement of those in attendance.
“Everyone had a unique story about how WD-40 had helped them through a tough build or shared a unique use that we didn’t even know about,” said Rai. “Listening to these young students speak so highly about our products and how they impact their lives and education was truly special.”
WD-40 will team up with Conestoga College to provide interactive activities for showgoers of all ages at their booth, including a fun matching game about WD-40 products and how they can be used at work and home, plus a Tire Change Challenge that will see participants compete against Conestoga instructors. A limited number of the WD-40 Precision Pen will be handed out and showgoers can enter a WD-40 Prize Pack giveaway.
After becoming an exhibitor at Motorama, Rai says the company saw the number of students showing up on the Friday and knew that they had to get involved.
“We wanted to be the front runners and show that supporting these young students early on in their education is the best way to help promote the trades as a viable career option,” said Rai. “We want every student thinking about trades to know that there are a number of well-known companies that are ready to support their learning journey and help them every step of the way. If they want to go down this career path, they have the backing of our products and brand to know that they will get the job done right!”
While best known for its 75-year-old multi-use product, WD-40 goes well beyond its initial roots. WD-40 Specialist is a full line of solutions for auto enthusiasts and DIYers, with Penetrant, Silicone, Electric Contact Cleaner and various degreaser products that are perfect for anyone working on their everyday vehicle or custom car project.
As two of the company’s newest launches in Canada, the Precision Pen offers the WD-40 formula in a dabbing pen – like a paint pen, while the Electric Contact Cleaner can be used to clean battery terminals, diagnostic contacts and other electrical components.
WD-40 representatives will be on-hand to answer questions about the Specialist line of products, including applications and uses in an automotive environment. Rai says that they’re also looking forward to chatting about people’s lasting memories about WD-40.
“Everyone has a story of the first time they saw the blue and yellow can, often when they worked on a car with their parent,” said Rai. “Every memory is special and hearing that our brand holds a special place in someone’s heart, because of a memory, is the most rewarding part of attending these shows.”

ABOUT WD-40: In 1953, in a small lab in San Diego, California, the fledgling Rocket Chemical Company and its staff of three set out to create a line of rust-prevention solvents and degreasers for use in the aerospace industry. It took them 40 attempts to get their water displacing formula to work, but on the 40th attempt, they got it right in a big way. WD-40 was born. WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40th formula. That’s the name straight out of the lab book used by the chemist who developed the product. A few years later, Rocket Chemical Company founder and president Norm Larsen experimented with putting WD-40 into aerosol cans, reasoning consumers might also find a use for the product in their home workshops and garages.
