Managing to combine business with pleasure, Southwestern Ontario-based Zehr Insurance returns to the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo presented by Ebay Motors, this year, both as a vendor and as a returning sponsor of the Mayhem… in the Backroom Rockabilly-themed room.
The 7th Annual Motorama show takes place April 29, 30 & May 1, 2022 at The International Centre, across from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
Although a full-service insurance broker, Zehr Insurance fills a particular niche in the automotive industry with its customized C.A.R.S. program, catering to the Classic, Antique, Rods & Replicas and Specialty hobbyist.
“The C.A.R.S. program was started by my father many years ago,” said Scott Smith, Vintage C.A.R.S. Manager. “He was a true car enthusiast. At one time, he had about 30 classic cars, so he recognized the needs of the hobby and made a specific effort to offer other hobbyists custom-fitted plans that met their requirements.”
Continuing to cater to the Classic and Custom Car hobby, for the third consecutive year Zehr Insurance will be the presenting sponsor of the Mayhem… in The Backroom exhibit.
Show visitors will not only be able to enjoy a wide variety of custom cars and hot rods, specialized vendors, music and other live entertainment, but from a more serious point of view, car owners will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from Zehr Insurance about creating an insurance plan to fit their individual requirements.
On the automotive side of the Mayhem… in the Backroom Rockabilly Room, Motorama Show visitors will, again this year, be able to enjoy a large selection of ‘traditionally-inspired Hot Rods and Custom Cars,’ with vehicles ranging from the 1920s through to the early 1960s.
Explained Mayhem… in the Backroom Manager Brandon Roberts, “You won’t find any muscle cars or rats rods in the Backroom. Our focus is on traditionally-inspired hot rods and customs. The vibe of the room is all about the cars you would have seen driving around in the ‘50s and ‘60s.”
Headlining the line-up of Classic Cars is a true, ‘Survivor Custom’, the award-winning Green Machine that earned top spot at Toronto’s 1968 SpeedSport Show.
“This car (a 1948 Ford) has been chopped three inches and later sectioned another five inches,” revealed Roberts. “The grill was modified to blend with the hood design, in order to incorporate the stacked headlights. The same care was shown in the rear-end design, to make full use of the tail and back-up lights.”
While the cars may be the stars of the Motorama Mayhem display, according to Roberts, there will be plenty of other attractions in the Backroom.
“We will have our usual line up of vendors with people selling vintage clothing and automotive paraphernalia. There will be a pin-striper, a tattoo artist and a barber on-site, and we will have music with a disc jockey playing non-stop and some live music, courtesy of the Hell Bent Rockers, on Saturday (April 30).”
Show visitors will also be able to see which cars receive specific Mayhem Awards, in categories such as Best Custom, Best Hot Rod and Best Chop.
