For the fourth consecutive show, Zehr Insurance is returning as the presenting sponsor of the Mayhem… in the Backroom vintage car and lifestyle room at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo presented by Ebay Motors. As well, the southwestern Ontario based company will once again be an exhibitor in Motorama, with a pair of booths. Looks for them in Halls 1 and 3.
Zehr Insurance is a full-service broker, but the company also services the specialty automotive market through its customized C.A.R.S. program, catering to Classic, Antique, Rods & Replicas and Specialty hobbyists. This makes for a natural connection between Zehr and the Mayhem room at Motorama. The show takes place March 10, 11 & 12 at Toronto’s International Centre.
In the years that the Zehr Insurance Mayhem room has been part of Motorama, it’s become one of the most popular parts of the show for many attendees and car owners. Mayhem has its own unique vibe that permeates not just the vehicles, but is also evidenced in the way the vintage culture is embraced by the car owners and vendors in the room.
Located in Hall 3 at the International Centre, Mayhem visitors will be greeted by a wide assortment of traditional cars and hot rods. But they’ll also experience vintage lifestyle vendors, artists, a DJ playing music from the ‘50s and ‘60s and creative car club displays. The room also plays host to the Miss Motorama Pinup Pageant, on Saturday, March 11, and regularly features vintage barbers and tattoo artists.
In terms of the vehicles, Mayhem manager Brandon Roberts, says showgoers can expect to see a large selection of cars, from the 1920s through to the early 1960s.
“Mayhem is all about the cars and people you would have seen in the ‘50s and ‘60s,” said Roberts. “We focus on traditionally inspired hot rods and customs. Between the cars, vendors, artists, a DJ, Pinup girls and awards presentations, the room has its own feel.”
Discussing Zehr Insurance and its connection with Mayhem, the company’s Scott Smith, Zehr’s Vintage C.A.R.S. Manager, said, “It started with my father, John, who was a car nut from a very young age. He was collecting cars from the time he could drive. And then he got involved in the insurance industry and started working at Zehr Insurance, in 1968. That same year, he established the C.A.R.S. collector car program, which is still going today.”
Car owners will have the opportunity to speak with Smith and other representatives from Zehr Insurance about creating an insurance plan to fit their individual requirements. But according to Scott, the show is also a great place to catch up with friends and people who share a passion for classic cars.
“It allows us the opportunity to connect with people we currently insure, and those who we can potentially work with. At Motorama, we catch up with people we maybe haven’t seen since last year’s show or last summer. We also deal with some of the hot rod shops, too, so it’s just nice to see everyone again. Motorama creates an itch to start thinking about summer and getting our cars ready again.”
