There will be no shortage of things to see in Mayhem… in the Backroom presented by Zehr Insurance, as the Hall 3 staple will feature traditionally-inspired hot rods and customs, along with unique vehicles, fashion and art.
The seventh edition of the Mayhem Room will include two feature 20 x 40 displays. Matt Hayes’ 1956 Ford pick-up and Calleja Kustoms / Mario Calleja’s 1926 Ford Model T will be in one display, with Binbrook Speed & Custom / Keith MacIntyre’s 1927 Ford Model T and Chris Matthon’s 1932 Ford pick-up in another.
There will also be some unique vehicles, including a dual-engine T-bucket roadster, a handmade custom belly tanker – similar to what’s run on the salt flats – and a 1927 Ford that was runner-up at the 1960 Speed Sport car show.
As for club representation, the Road Reapers, this year’s Featured Club at Motorama, will be joined by the Hellions and the Northmen with vehicles on display in Hall 3.
“I think this is the best Mayhem Room since it started,” said Mayhem Room Coordinator Brandon Roberts. “The quality of cars, the type of customs we have, the variety; I think this will be our best year for vehicles that people haven’t seen before. I’m definitely excited to show it to everybody, I’m excited about the whole presentation of the room, I think it’s going to be great.”
Only half a dozen of the 50 vehicles were previously shown in the Mayhem Room, meaning there will be lots of new content. The quantity and quality of the rides make this a can’t-miss part of the show.
“I’m surprised by the quality of the builds we get from people doing the work in their garage,” said Roberts. “We do have lots of vehicles that are built at professional shops, but there are some cars back there that are built in people’s garages that you’d think were built at a professional shop.”
There will be more opportunities for vehicles to be recognized in 2026, with more than double the number of awards up for grabs on Sunday, March 15 on the Mayhem Room stage.
Roberts hopes to continue expanding the selection found in the Mayhem Room to include other vintage rides, such as boats and motorcycles, the latter of which can be seen this year. The vision for the space is something shared by Zehr Insurance, the presenting sponsor of the Mayhem Room since day one. Roberts says that Zehr is a great partner as both groups are cut from the same cloth.
In addition to the vehicles, the Mayhem Room will once again feature Artist’s Alley for all things vintage lifestyle. Back by popular demand, the tattoo booth will be twice as big, with a second tattoo artist taking part.
The Miss Motorama Pinup Pageant returns on Saturday, March 14, while Suzie’s Bombshell Boutique will add a new event, Models⚡️Music⚡️Mayhem – The Friday After 5 Backroom Party. A Fashion Show will be followed by live music, with the Fuzz Vultures performing. The pre-pageant party starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13.
